Government.

Government is an important institution in our world. It is the very structure that governs most of us. As quoted from Lao Tzu, "We work with being, but non-being is what we use." We do not see government, but as political beings, we bring Government to life.

Every government needs to work on an economic foundation with a constitutional framework to build up a governmental structure. To protect the structure, governments need the strong walls of defence and the windows of foreign relations to house the people of a nation. Countries must not mess up with this basic structure of the government. There should be a consensus on what makes the core of the country the core, while there should be enough dissent within the government to give different visions of the realization of the consensus.

For example, Australia is and will always be a country with a British heritage looking forward in a Asia-Pacific world. While Australians may disagree on what they are going, as they are looking at republicanism versus the current monarchy link with Britain, or orienting their policies to balance and maintain the relationships with Britain, United States, European Union, People's Republic of China (PRC) and other countries and entities, they know for sure they will always be a Christian, Caucasian majority land in the corner of the world that has actually many more non-Christians and non-Caucasians in the surroundings, all in a mostly empty vast land far from other mainly Christian and Caucasian countries like them, even New Zealand included. This is their reality. They can neither hide away nor deny what they are having now. Regardless of competition between the PRC and the United States in the Pacific region, Australia has to work with these two 'big powers' in all scenarios, even though the specifics of dealing with them individually could differ. And Australia has to keep the common law system the British instituted for hundreds of years, a democratic system that gives voice to the ordinary Australian citizen, a powerful defense to deter invaders and defend rather than attack, and an economy that does trade with mainly Asian countries and maybe the United States, rather than what less well-informed people and parties 'like', especially heavily relying on Britain in terms of trade, regardless of the English heritage a plurality of Australian now share.

Similarly, America should consider going back to the Monroe Doctrine, where they continue to be involved to set up an order for all of the Americas to have closer trade and foreign relationship ties with the United States of America. With the downfall of Venezuela's current 'socialist' government and Cuba's imminent reforms, the USA should perhaps leave much of the Pacific to other regional powers, most notably the PRC, so as to concentrate on the Americas. USA should remain capitalist with free trade sentiments across the continent, to make the best out of the resources of the Americas. I feel that America will make do with win-win even if PRC surpasses USA as the biggest power of the world because of the immense potentials in Asia-Pacific. But USA is handling more than they could chew and they cannot afford to be the world's policeman all over without over-extending their reach. America should set its military forces on attack mode, but preferably on other competitors that wish to take away the United  States influence in America. Some countries like Afghanistan and Ukraine are simply better let off while United States concentrates its efforts on oil, trade with Latin American countries and foreign cooperation across government levels.

Without the right set of foreign policies and defense strategies to support entire countries, countries simply do not expect to fill up with economic gains when opportunities present themselves.
